摘要: This paper attempts to expose the factors influencing political participation in Kibera informal settlement Nairobi, Kenya. To this end, an extensive survey was carried out three of five wards Kibera. Prior comparative studies have reached somewhat simplistic conclusion that poor citizens are a politically inactive group society. A handful have, however, inquired nuances within group. In stark contrast traditional literature, they find least financially well-off respondents be more active ones, and is chiefly driven by encounters with local representatives. While indicators correlating voting align socioeconomic described theories, regression analysis reveals similar pattern (other than voting) politicians. Moreover, membership strongly correlated both other activities sample.
