The Mediterranean Storm Petrel Hydrobates pelagicus melitensis at Cabrera archipelago (Balearic Islands, Spain): Breeding moult, biometry and evaluation of the population size by mark and recapture techniques

摘要: The population size of the Mediterranean Storm Petrel Hydrobates pelagicus melitensis breeding on Cabrera archipelago was evaluated by using capture‐recapture techniques (du Feu estimation) with aid tape‐lures at colonies. Both sub‐adult and adult birds were attracted tape lures a similar rate, both age groups show high degree philopatry to their natal site. recapture ringed in previous years, that originally captured as adults or chicks, has provided valuable information for determination composition mist‐netted during season. Sub‐adult tend visit colonies pre‐egg egg‐rearing stage, while those present sites from July are predominantly birds.
