摘要: Abiotic and biotic factors can significantly influence modify the chemical composition of a plant. In this study influences exposure to cadmium zinc herbivory on plant-insect interactions were investigated. We studied performance two herbivore species with different feeding modes (chewing versus sucking) metal-hyperaccumulator Arabidopsis halleri (Brassicaceae) as well individual glucosinolate (GLS) element concentrations young old leaves in response soil treatments. The both insect was reduced plants grown metal-amended compared unamended soil. This result supports elemental defense hypothesis, which postulates that high internal metal protect from herbivores mostly tested chewing so far. Alongside higher levels heavy metals soil, GLS differentially affected responded differently herbivory. Concentrations most elements leaves, is line optimal theory, predicts better more valuable tissue. Our results highlight various organic inorganic compounds be directions by complex interplay between plants, herbivores, contamination
