摘要: ABSTRACT Bivalves, oysters and mussels, have been used as sentinel organisms to monitor levels of heavy metals, petroleum hydrocarbons, synthetic organics, artificial radionuclides at over 100 stations in the U. S. coastal waters. Zones high pollutant identified. The strategies carrying out program, including collection techniques analytical procedures, are described. results from initial analyses 1976 1977 indicate varying degrees pollution studied Further, there is a remarkable similarity concentrations some metals plutonium collected given station during year one two. In future, other pollutants, such those arising chlorination waste waters, might be included program. an urgent need for development methods assess biological impact acting singly or concert.
