摘要: Family and contextual predictors of depression in inner-city, African American youth have rarely been examined. In this study we explore the contribution current historical life events, family conflict, perceived social support from mother, maternal depression, explanatory style to depressive symptoms inner-city school-age (M = 10.7 years) children. Home interviews were conducted with 89 mother child dyads living moderate- high-violent areas a southeastern city. Regression analyses revealed that children sample higher levels had child-reported everyday stress, more likely abused at some point their past, came homes mothers who less well educated, reported past history domestic abuse, as pessimistic style. Implications for interventions families are discussed.
