摘要: Epidural volume extension is a technical modification of the combined spinal epidural block. It involves injection normal saline or small local anaesthetic after an intrathecal injection, aiming to augment post-spinal sensory level. Although consequent block augmentation has been adequately documented, probable factors influencing and its implications for clinical practice are not well defined. This article reviews published literature relating affecting extension, implications, case reports successful application summarises unexplored effects.
