摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter reviews the progress made in developing rice that is resistant to diseases and insects. Among cereal crops, host of largest number insect pests. These cause serious yield loss annually. The magnitude caused by insects, increases as level production per unit area increases. discusses nature disease or insect, its distribution, genetic variability pathogen, resistance, genetics breeding for resistance. Fungal attack plant foliage, stems, roots, leaf sheath, inflorescence, grains. Four fungal diseases: blast, sheath blight, brown spot, narrow spot; two bacterial blight streak; five virus tungro, grassy stunt, stripe, dwarf, hoja blanca have been discussed chapter. To minimize from attacks, varieties with multiple resistances most major insects are required. Also, a systematic international survey races biotypes should be carried out use differential varieties.
