摘要: Little information is presently available on the factors promoting genetic divergence in eukaryotic microbes. We studied spatial distribution of variation Saccharomyces paradoxus, wild relative cerevisiae, from scale a few centimetres individual oak trees to thousands kilometres across different continents. Genealogical analysis six loci shows that isolates Europe form single recombining population, and within this population differentiation increases with physical distance. Between continents, strains are more divergent genealogically independent, indicating well-differentiated lineages may be process speciation. Such replicated populations will useful for studies genomics.
