摘要: The ground parrot (Pezoporus wallicus) has a coastal distribution in Victoria and declined range since European colonization. Its habitat consists of two major vegetation communities: heathland sedgeland. These are further divided into various sub-communities. habitats contained high densities cyperaceous restionaceous plants, the seeds which form bulk bird's diet. Seeds small fruits some dicotyledonous plants grasses also eaten. Seed production by sedges remains fairly constant over time sedgelands but varies heathland, depending on burning. This variation is reflected parallel changes population density. Both long unburnt very frequently burnt heathlands unsuitable for parrots. birds require dense cover. Ground parrots appear to live territorial breeding pairs with enforced natal dispersal. an adaptation environment where patchily distributed space variable quality time.
