摘要: Background Liver disease is a major public health threat, particularly in developing countries. Several medicinal plants and formulations have been claimed to liver protective activities. The present study aimed evaluate vitro antioxidant vivo hepatoprotective activities of root bark extracts Croton macrostachyus (Euphorbiaceae). Methods Free radical scavenging activity crude extract solvent fractions the plant was conducted using DPPH assay method. Hepatoprotective were carried out based on paracetamol-induced damage mice. Serum biomarkers (AST, ALT, ALP, total bilirubin protein) assessed find effect. Histopathological examination also for all groups mice further confirm findings. Results Antioxidant revealed that extract, aqueous fraction chloroform exhibited free with IC50 values 128.6, 168.9, 406 µg/mL, respectively. Pretreatment significantly reduced ALP (p<0.001), ALT AST (p<0.001) levels at administered doses compared toxic group. decreased level 200 mg/kg (P<0.05) 400 (P<0.001). elevated protein value paracetamol treated group (P<0.05). confirmed by histopathological studies. Conclusion From this study, it can be concluded demonstrated
