摘要: Single units of the goldfish torus semicircularis (TS) were recorded in response to pure tones. Response areas (RA) obtained by recording number spikes evoked tones a range frequencies and levels within units' dynamic range. RAs gave estimates best sensitivity (BS), characteristic frequency (CF), most excitatory at each level (BF), Q10dB. Peri-stimulus-time histograms (PSTH), interspike interval (ISIH), period various describe temporal patterns. The distribution CF is nonuniform with modes 155, 455, 855 Hz. coefficient synchronization standard also nonuniform, revealing dichotomy between little or no phase-locking those that phase-lock strongly. PSTHs for without significant vary widely include patterns resembling mammalian auditory brainstem. Compared saccular afferents, tend have lower spontaneous rates, greater sensitivity, sharper tuning. Unlike BF independent units. Some are similar afferents while others reveal transformations information periphery midbrain.
