摘要: Background Graduate medical education (GME) bodies are beginning to mandate coaching as an integral part of the learning process, in addition current requirements for mentorship. Once emergency medicine physician transitions beyond graduate training, there is no requirement and little focus on a method improving or maintaining clinical practice. Our objective was understand describe state published literature with regard use mentorship both GME practicing physicians. Methods We conducted structured review through PubMed Google Scholar included all articles applying modalities trainees A Form used standardized data abstraction. Data were collected pertaining settings intervention, nature its effect, resource requirements. Results total 3,546 papers isolated during review. After exclusion, 186 underwent full-text by authors which 126 final analysis. Eighty-two (65%) pertained 14 (11%) coaching; remainder discussed combination variation these two concepts. Fifty-three (42%) descriptive studies 35 (28%) narrative reviews commentaries. Forty-seven (37%) originated from within surgical specialties most commonly applied procedural manual skills 22 (17%) instances among studies. Conclusions Most narrative, few specialty medicine. interventions limited single without longitudinal application intervention. There important need study publish further evidence interventions.
