摘要: Abstract Several reports in the literature indicate possibility that iron oxyhydroxides sediments enhance dissolution of diatom frustules. We tested this by conducting a laboratory experiment which various amounts were added to sediment spiked with undissolved A visual index was developed assess extent dissolution. concentration 300 mg-Fe/g-sediment found accelerate relative 0, 3, and 30 additions. Such abnormally high exposure may be encountered frustules over time, particularly aluminosilicate subjected frequent redox transitions.
