Effects of mistletoe extract on markers of platelet activation and aggregation

摘要: BACKGROUND: Viscum album preparations are extensively used as complementary therapy in cancer and shown to exert antitumor activities which involve the cytotoxic properties, induction of apoptosis, inhibition angiogenesis several other immunomodulatory mechanisms. AIM: The aim this study was investigate effects mistletoe extract on platelet well as monocyte functions, an important factors immunomodulation cancers metastatic potencial angiogenesis tumors. METHODS: effect of different concentrations agonist-induced platelet activation markers their aggregation with leukocytes was examined the blood healthy subjects (n=6) using flow cytometry. Effects LPS -induced determined THP-1 cell line ELISA essays RESULTS: Mistletoe significantly inhibited agonist induced P selectin expression platelet-monocytes aggregation. Additionally, mistletoe exerts anti-tumor through stimulation TNF-a production monocytes activation.
