摘要: OBJECTIVES: To obtain longitudinal information of the relation between smoking and musculoskeletal disorders in an industrial setting. METHODS: The associations lifetime tobacco exposure (pack-years), current status, stopping with back limb were studied a cohort white collar blue employees metal industry. Measurements made three times at 5 year intervals. Two thirds initial sample 902 took part both re-examinations. Musculoskeletal morbidity was measured as abundance symptoms during past clinical findings assessed by physiotherapist (upper decile score/score difference = index category). Logistic regression generalised estimating equation used, allowing for sociodemographic variables, physical workload, body mass index, exercise activity, mental distress. RESULTS: By comparison never smokers, 10- or 20 pack-years associated change upper 2.9 (1.4 to 6.2) lower (1.2 7.2). Those who continued smoke through follow up period had higher increase 2.5 (1.1 5.9) than smokers. There dose-response association intensity future symptoms. Also, those stopped 4.4 (2.0 9.9) 3.5 8.8) CONCLUSION: Smoking seems predict development occurrence signs. Stopping is high morbidity.
