Impact of Head Rotation on the Individualized Common Carotid Flow and Carotid Bifurcation Hemodynamics

摘要: This paper aims at evaluating the changes that head rotation poses on morphological and flow characteristics of carotid bifurcation (CB) distribution parameters are regarded as important in atherosclerosis development, such relative particle residence time (RRT), normalized oscillatory shear index (nOSI), helicity (HL). Using a subject-specific approach, six healthy volunteers were MR-scanned two postures: supine neutral prone with rightward rotation. Cross-sectional velocity was obtained using phase-contrast MRI common artery (CCA). Our results indicate peak systolic rate is reduced position most cases for both CCAs. Morphological MR images used to segment construct CB models. Numerical simulations performed areas exposed high or unfavorable hemodynamics calculated. Head affects instantaneous spatial extent regions. Posture-related observed differences nOSI RRT suggest inlet waveform tends moderate geometry-induced qualitative quantitative atherosclerosis-susceptible wall Overall, presented an individualized approach required fully assess postural role development complications arising stenotic stented vessels.
