摘要: Background Fall is a major public health problem and potentially disabling issue. A vast burden of visually impaired live in low-middle income countries particularly Sub-Saharan Africa. Limited ability to detect environmental hazards puts at greater risk falls unintentional injuries. Falls among associated with considerable disability, care cost, loss independence, socio-economic consequences. Ethiopia lacked estimates fall any vulnerable population, people. Therefore, this study aimed estimate the prevalence factors adult people medically diagnosed visual impairment Ethiopia. Methods An institutional-based cross-sectional was conducted adults who attended ophthalmology clinic University Gondar comprehensive specialized hospital during period. Data were collected by interview method using structured questionnaires, patient medical record reviews, physical measurements. Bivariate multivariable binary logistic regression model analysis used identify falls. Adjusted odds ratio corresponding 95% confidence intervals computed show strength association. Results total 328 participated (97.3% response rate). The age participants ranged from 25 89 years mean (56.46 ± 14.2 years). overall cumulative self-reported 26.8% 95%CI (22.7, 32.4%). identified multivariate were; both eye (AOR 3.21, CI 1.11, 9.29), fear falling: some concerned: (AOR, 4.12; 95%CI, 1.44, 11.76), very concerned 10.03; CI, 3.03, 33.21), medications: 4.63; 2.14, 10.00) depression: 3.46; 10.79). Conclusion result indicates moderate impairment. Identifying sub-groups impaired, modifiable factors, implementation precaution measures avoid fall-related injuries, most importantly that would reduce deserves immediate attention.
