Mass transfer rates and hydrodynamic behaviour have been measured for liquid-liquid gas-liquid dispersions formed at small perforations (0.3 to 1.5 mm diameter) in plates vibrating frequencies of 10–100 Hz amplitudes the order 0.1 mm. The light phase (liquid or gas) is fed beneath plate which provided with a skirt so that passes through form discrete drops bubbles. Sauter mean diameter was generally range 1–2 mm. Mass efficiency (acetic acid from kerosene water) found be 70% single plate; effect cell depth on small, indicating most mass occurred near plate. In case (oxygen uptake by water), volumetric coefficient s−1, compares well conventional equipment.
