摘要: THE formation of highly oriented structures such as single crystals, single-domain liquid crystals and systems comprising uniaxially crystallites is important in many applications thin films interfaces, ranging from materials reinforcement to molecular electronics. Of the methods that exist for forming structures, however, few have sufficient generality make them applicable differing chemical composition or physical properties. Here we present a simple surprisingly versatile method1 orienting wide variety crystalline liquid-crystalline materials, including polymers, monomers small organic inorganic molecules. In our technique, thin, single-crystal-like film poly(tetrafluoroethylene) (PTFE) deposited mechanically on smooth substrate glass. Materials grown this coated surface solution, melt vapour phases show remarkable degree alignment.
