摘要: An esthetic and permanent restorative material that could be placed directly into the cavities prepared in anterior teeth would an important contribution to dental practice public well-being. Such a material, which have less solubility, sensitivity desiccation, brittleness than silicate cements,1,2 greater dimensional stability do methyl methacrylate direct filling resins,3’4 has been demand for many years. The present lack of mate rial complying with these requirements is problem worthy extensive investiga tion. tests reported here were under taken determine whether desired properties obtained re inforced organic polymer. In industry, plastics are commonly reinforced fibers, particles, or combination these. term “reinforcement” usually reserved instances where physi cal improved; “ filler” often implies no improvement physical chemical properties. Particles, rather selected use described iiere. Irregular shaped particles vitreous silica (General Electric Co.’s Clear Fused Quartz Powder), special surface treatment, used reinforce ment. Except otherwise specified, vinylsilane-coated fine enough pass through no. 100 sieve United States standard series, having dimensions ap proximately 150 microns (about 0.006 inch) smaller. binder this ment was specially study, because commercially available monomers comonomers did not pear as promising, respect polymerization shrinkage, comono mer system described. This especially designed low shrinkage.
