Tonsillectomy and Adenoidectomy: Changing Trends:

摘要: A review of 1,722 tonsil and adenoid procedures performed between 1978 1986 is presented. Each year there has been a progressive decrease in the number performed; incidence adenoidectomy declined particularly. Although infection remains predominant indication for surgery, dramatic rise obstructive sleep apnea as significant indication, from 0% to 19% 1986. At present, this trend promises continue physicians become increasingly aware prevalence seriousness adenotonsillar hypertrophy cause apnea, particularly general pediatric population.
