Cognitive-Behavioral Group Treatment for Men Voluntarily Seeking Help for Violence towards Their Intimate Partners: The Impact of Treatment Components 4 - 7 Years after Therapy

摘要: Background: Even though domestic violence is a major problem, only few studies have examined the long term sustainability of treatment for men who voluntarily seek help to stop their violent behavior towards intimate partners. Women are exposed much greater degree serious and sexual abuse compared men. Objective: The aim this study was identify which elements program batterers found most useful four seven years after completion. Design: participants consisted sample had gone through anger management therapy previously. Data on were collected self-report before treatment, using modified version Conflict Tactics Scales. Results: decrease in physical statistically significant: t (36) = 8.43, p < 0.001 with large effect size (eta squared 0.66). Psychological also decreased significantly: 9.21, 0.7). results indicate that important techniques extensively applied former patients program. In total, about two out three still used ending earlier.
