摘要: Sperm competition theory predicts that under high risk of sperm competition, males will increase the number they allocate to a female. This prediction has been supported by some experimental studies but not others. Here, I conducted meta-analysis determine whether in allocation is generalized response across taxa. collected data from 39 and 37 species. Across taxa, respond increasing their (mean effect size=0.32). Number offspring did explain significant portion variation sizes. A traditional (i.e. without phylogenetic information) described among sizes better than incorporates relationships species, suggesting similarly prevalent
