摘要: BACKGROUND: Recently released prisoners are at markedly higher risk of suicide than the general population. The aim this study was to identify key factors for by offenders from prisons in England and Wales. METHOD: All suicides committed within 12 months their release prison Wales, between 2000 2002, were identified. One control matched on gender date recruited each case. Univariate multivariate logistic regression modelling identified independent suicide. RESULTS: Of 256 920 prisoners, 384 occurred a year release. Factors significantly associated with post-release increasing age over 25 years, local prison, history alcohol misuse or self-harm, psychiatric diagnosis, requiring Community Mental Health Services (CMHS) follow-up after prison. Non-white ethnicity previous imprisonment protective factors. CONCLUSIONS: There is need improve continuity care people who community health, offender social agencies coordinate these vulnerable individuals.
