摘要: BACKGROUND Oral melanomas have some histopathological resemblance with its cutaneous counterpart; however, an aggressive behavior is more common in tumors that occur the oral cavity. Several markers been suggested as indicative of tumoral progression and aggressiveness, such cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2) Ki67. MATERIAL AND METHODS In this study, we compared expression COX-2 Ki67 a series amelanotic (n=7) melanotic (n=22). The cases were selected from 4 pathology laboratories submitted to immunohistochemical (IHC) reactions. We analyzed IHC staining based on qualitative - using visual scores; computer-assisted method (quantitative) scanned slides software for digital analysis. RESULTS was expressed all melanomas; intensity significantly higher ones (P<0.001). Similarly, high Ki67-positivity index observed than CONCLUSIONS Based these results, suggest marked pro-inflammatory high-proliferative phenotype, justifying their ones.
