Aids and the power of God: Narratives of decline and coping strategies in Zanzibar

摘要: Discourses on AIDS in Zanzibar are embedded a cultural logic associated with Islam and shaped by the islands long problematic relationship mainland. This chapter analyses how people struggle to translate such discourses into local practice an effort make sense of contain epidemic, has been used religious groups political discourse opposing government policies that perceived as having tolerated moral decay compromised Muslim values practices over past decades.
