摘要: Antiseptics used in endodontics for disinfection purposes include root canal dressings and irrigants. Osmotic shock is known to cause the alteration of microbial cell viability might have a role mechanism action antiseptics. The aim this review was determine osmolarity on performance antiseptics treatment. A literature search using Medline electronic database conducted up 30 May 2013 following terms combinations: 'osmolarity AND or endodontic antiseptic irrigation irrigant medication dressing biofilm; osmolality osmotic osmosis sodium chloride biofilm'. Publications were included if effects clinical treatment stated, preparations with different osmolarities values compared they published English. hand articles online, 'in press' 'early view', reference list papers carried out same criteria. total 3274 publications identified database, three review. evidence available suggests possible hyperosmotic medicaments as disinfectants, that there no influence tissue dissolution capacity hypochlorite. There are insufficient data obtain sound conclusion regarding hypo-osmosis disinfection, any further desirable ability.
