摘要: Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore the practical use video cameras during a study with young children. Design/methodology/approach This investigates in research children’s utilisation semiotic tools communicate play interactions Francophone preschool classroom British Columbia. It examines in-the-moment decision making researcher support accommodation camera their space and ensure rich data were recorded. Findings Children accommodated four distinct ways. These included: curiosity investigation cameras; engagement recording process researcher; incorporation into play; disregard it. Practical implications The findings suggest that recordings can be an effective method collection children provide sources learning through when flexible responsive supports it. Originality/value Recent advances technology have resulted increased as resource for gathering empirical qualitative research.
