摘要: The newly discovered supernova remnant G266.2-1.2 (RX J0852.0-4622), along the line of sight to Vela (SNR), was observed with ASCA for 120 ks. We find that X-ray spectrum is featureless and well described by a power law, extending three class shell-type SNRs dominated nonthermal emission. Like G347.3-0.5, this low-latitude displays discrete regions enhanced emission rim as faint from interior. derive limits on thermal content emission, although presence SNR compromises our ability seriously constrain low-temperature component. Limits placed amount Sc-K are compared expected flux based reported 44Ti G266.2-1.2. also report an unresolved source surrounded diffuse near center remnant. properties not determined but appear consistent interpretation neutron star synchrotron nebula. Alternatively, may be associated one two stars located within positional error circle, appears somewhat unlikely.
