Child-headed households as contested spaces: Challenges and opportunities in children's decision-making

摘要: This article explores the constraints and opportunities in children's decision-making child-headed households (CHHs). It draws from findings of an explorative study 30 CHHs carried out Harare, Zimbabwe 2007. Relatively little is known about how children make decisions CHHs, notwithstanding fact that understanding this process can be entry way into their lifeworlds. Situated semi-structured interviews were used with older ages 11–17 years participatory methods 5–10 to investigate CHHs. The seem reveal some are active agents who try own sense situations act within capacities improve experiences. Initiatives assist them should therefore planned, taking account they contribute solutions challenges encounter daily lives.
