摘要: The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence antiseptic-resistance (QAC) genes in staphylococci colonizing periorbital tissues and accessories orthokeratology (ortho-k) lens wearers over a 6-month period determine effect their presence on minimum inhibitory (MIC) bactericidal concentrations (MBC) disinfectants log reduction multipurpose contact solutions (MPS). Staphylococci were isolated from patients before commencing ortho-k therapy at two subsequent visits. Presence QAC 116 S. aureus 67 CNS isolates determined by PCR association with use determined. MICs MBCs gene-positive compared gene-negative strains effectiveness four MPS for rigid lenses investigated. carriage rates conjunctiva decreased significantly 41.2 % (baseline) 11.8 % (3-months), 13.3 % (6-months) (p trend 0.03), while increased 58.8 %(baseline) 94.1 % 93.3 % 0.02). Prevalence qacA/B considerably time (S. aureus: 4.4 % 15.4 %, CNS: 6.7 % 25 %), but frequency smr relatively stable. Only five harboured qacH. three did not achieve 3-log many QAC-positive strains. Ortho-k wear contributed changes staphylococcal conjunctival sac. Use containing quaternary ammonium compounds may select organisms harbouring genes, as low concentration disinfecting agents is adequate killing
