摘要: This is a prospective study that examined the nature of emergency obstetric admissions in Nigerian university hospital association with such factors as late referrals and misdiagnoses their contribution to maternal perinatal morbidity/mortality. The comprised 144 consecutive over 6·5-month period. An incidence 13·6% was recorded. Despite proximity parturients, most them laboured substandard facilities within community. Referrals were made only after prolonged delay onset complications. Obstetric haemorrhage (24·6%) common cause for referral followed by labour disorders (19%) hypertensive (8·4%).
