摘要: Purpose to understand the main orofacial characteristics of functionally independent elderly individuals and investigate their association with age, gender, socioeconomic level, dental status. Methods an observational, cross-sectional, analytical study was carried out a non-probabilistic sample. Inclusion criteria: minimum age 60 years, individual in good health conditions according pre-established protocol published by care service. In order collect data, we used validated Orofacial Myofunctional Evaluation Scores for Aged Protocol. Results The presented normal patterns more than 60% appearance mobility parameters. Significant alterations observed were: pronounced nasolabial sulcus; flaccid or arched cheeks; labial sealing tension absence sealing; depressed commissures. Alterations were few, between 20.6% 33.8%, higher prevalence when raising tongue, lateralizing air inflated cheeks jaw. There no relationship these findings progression classes.
