How profilin promotes actin filament assembly in the presence of thymosin β4

摘要: Abstract The role of profilin in the regulation actin assembly has been reexamined. affinity for ATP-actin appears 10-fold higher than previously thought. In presence ATP, participation profilin-actin complex to filament elongation at barbed end is linked a decrease steady-state concentration globular actin. This surprising effect made possible by involvement irreversible ATP hydrolysis accompanying polymerization. As consequence, thymosin β4 (Tβ4), low amounts promote extensive off pool actin-Tβ4 complex. When ends are capped, simply sequesters A model proposed function actin-based motility.
