摘要: A set of Landsat-5 multispectral scanner (MSS) images Filchner-Ronne Ice Shelf was commissioned by the Institut fur Angewandte Geodasie and recorded over a short period in early 1986. mosaic digitally enhanced constructed, using all available ground control. In due course it is planned to use data for production series digital-image maps at scale 1:1 000 000. Meanwhile line map has been prepared 1 :2 show principal glaciological features. The new shows much more detail than earlier Landsat extends coverage higher latitudes. More poorly known southern boundary ice shelf can be identified but floating still beyond limit coverage. Extensive rumples are revealed, many them undetected imagery. Flow bands tracked without break from their ice-stream source front, distances up 800 km. Even minor tributaries, sheet flow inland between streams, yield narrow identifiable bands. thickness, velocity, mass-flux reviewed, order underline dependence on good mapping.
