摘要: Recent studies have demonstrated important pro-inflammatory roles for two matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs)-MMP-3 (stromelysin-1) and MMP-9 (gelatinase B)-in acute lung injury [Am. J. Respir. Cell Mol. Biol. 24 (2001) 1]. A role MMP-3 in skin inflammation has also been [Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. U. S. A. 96 (1999) 6885]. While leukocytes (neutrophils macrophages) are known to elaborate these tissue-destructive enzymes, parenchymal cells capable of synthesizing MMPs.
