摘要: Abstract This study focuses on the evaluation of accuracy and feasibility use new Google Tango technology for outdoor measurements in forest inventory tasks. The uses RGB-D inertial sensors visual Simultaneous Localization Mapping (SLAM) combines them with compact mobile devices. Three circular test plots, established using methodology, were used testing. Tree position references measured a total station; reference diameters at breast height (DBH) acquired callipers. Close-range photogrammetry Field-Map conducted comparison. Root mean square errors (RMSE) DBHs device up to two centimetres. positional was highly dependent scanning methods. Two patterns designed testing – “Spiral” “Sun”. RMSE positions over one metre Spiral pattern 0.20 m Sun pattern. These results are comparable some earlier reported other technologies, which provide 3D point clouds (photogrammetry, laser scanning). Field experiences related hardware software also reported. With further development dedicated software, platform could feasible, sufficiently accurate, cost-effective solution various forests where applicable.
