Effect of cross-sectional shape on thermoelastic dissipation of micro/nano elastic beams

摘要: Abstract In spite of practical relevance, little effort has been made to analyze the effect geometrical shape cross-section on thermoelastic dissipation micro/nano beams under different surface thermal condition. The present paper aims study elliptical, triangular or arbitrary rectangular with accurate satisfaction Detailed formulas are derived for quality ( Q -) factor above-mentioned cross-sections. Our results show that all discussed, is a non-monotonic function absolute size provided beam length fixed, and maximum appears at specific which order few hundreds nanometers examples discussed. These suggest could increase decreasing cross-sectional within micron scale, while it decrease nano scale. general, cross-sections, Q-factor isothermal always higher than adiabatic otherwise identical conditions scales. analysis also indicates that, achieve high factor, resonators elliptical cross-sections best operate frequencies lower frequencies.
