摘要: Antipsychotic agents differ in efficacy and side effects such as movement disorders prolactin elevation because of varying mechanisms action. A revised nomenclature for antipsychotic agents, which categorizes the drugs according to efficacy, risk disorders, elevation, is described. Prolactin a potential effect some medications, underdiagnosed but can have serious short-term long-term consequences. Short-term problems include menstrual irregularities, sexual dysfunction, depression. Long-term related decreased bone density osteoporosis, relapse psychosis poor compliance due dysfunction or depression, perhaps cancer, although more research this area needed. Despite nature these effects, seldom detected clinicians often fail inquire about function other symptoms that signal patient's may be elevated.
