摘要: It would be natural to suppose that potassium enters Valonia as KCl since it appears in this form the sap. We find, however, on basis we cannot predict behavior of any respect. But can readily do so if assume penetrates chiefly KOH. may then say under normal conditions cell because ionic activity product (K) (OH) is greater outside than inside. This hypothesis.leads following predictions: 1. When becomes inside (because concentration OH(-) rises, or K(+) falls) should leave cell, though sodium continues enter. Previous experiments, and those paper, indicate case. 2. Increasing pH value sea water increase rate entrance potassium, vice versa. shown by results described present paper. photosynthesis increases increasing just protoplasm. In darkness there little no growth absorption electrolytes. The exchange (K(+) exchanged for H(+) produced cell), ions passing such through protoplasmic surface, does not seem important.
