摘要: Infestations of the human brain with larval stage Taenia solium, once an infrequent diagnosis in United States, is now a more frequently encountered clinical entity especially population centers high immigrant flux. During recent 5-year period 45 cases intraventricular cysticerosis have been evaluated and treated. Modes involvement included isolated cyst formation, ependymitis, or combinations both. Evidence associated parenchymatous was present 20% cases. Sites infestation lateral ventricle (five cases), third (12 Sylvian aqueduct (four fourth (24 cases). Mean post-therapy follow-up periods for this series exceed 36 months. This experience indicates that direct excision treatment choice ventricular cystic lesions, but management, operative planning, expectations should be influenced by considerations of: 1) potential acute deterioration (38%); 2) migration; 3) attendant defined computerized tomography verified at surgery; 4) increase volume local mass effect; 5) selection institution corridors surgical access establish alternative routes cerebrospinal fluid flow; 6) possibility stereotaxic endoscopic procedure.
