摘要: The harpacticoid copepod Balaenophilus manatorum (Ortiz, Lalana and Torres, 1992) was originally described based on a few specimens collected from single manatee in Cuba. Since its description it has been recorded exclusively as symbiont of sea turtles worldwide; there were no further records this species the association remained unconfirmed. During long-term survey biology ecology Trichechus manatus L. Mexican waters western Caribbean, epibionts 54 individuals, including males, females juveniles. Many B. several manatees analysed morphologically; comparison is made with Pacific. Manatees captured two different bay systems examined, but only those Chetumal Bay positive for copepods.
