Spin-Polarised Tunneling Effects Observed on the Magnetite (001) and (111) Surfaces

摘要: The (001) and (111) surface structure of magnetite have been studied using Auger electron spectroscopy, low energy diffraction (LEED) scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). A clean was obtained by a combination in-situ annealing in oxygen atmosphere, Argon sputtering subsequent UHV for Fe3O4 surfaces. (√2 × √2)R45° superlattice found LEED STM on the surface. Evidence formation superstructure single crystal is given. superstructure, which has periodicity 42 three-fold symmetry, observed means LEED. Atomic resolution images achieved MnNi tips, are interpreted terms spin-polarized effect.
