摘要: . A follow-up study of 209 persons examined in the diabetes survey Bergen 1956 is discussed. The material was divided into five groups on basis laboratory findings from 1956. Latent diabetics. In strongly suspected most this group. showed positive 21 23 persons. average age men 69, women 75. Two used insulin and 3 peroral antidiabetics. remainder disease could be kept under control by diet. Diabetic complications moderate degree were observed 7 mortality during observation period 60% for both sexes. Cardiovascular found a large percentage deceased. Borderline cases. group to have developed 8 41 examined. 65, 70. diabetics had easily controllable diabetes. diagnosis still uncertain 46% Glycosuria, non-diabetics. Diabetes 5 Screened positive, 2 36 Normal material. was, somewhat surprisingly, 68 As attendance at followup only 70%. it possible that certain selection taken place. It can therefore hardly assumed prevalence representative development constituency NygArd period. also considerable reduction glucose tolerance period, levels fasting blood sugar 2-hour after administration showing clear increase all diagnostic groups.
