摘要: ABSTRACT Objective To identify childhood risk factors that predict depression and drug disorders by early adulthood, distinguishing between general for both specific each individual disorder. Method Within a longitudinal community study ( N = 360), familial behavioral-emotional characteristics were assessed in (ages 5, 6, 9 years). At age 21, the Diagnostic Interview Schedule, version III-revised, provided lifetime diagnoses of major abuse/dependence. Results Sibling substance use predicted genders. Feelings anxiety, depression, peer rejection predictors females. Specific parental anxious/depressed behavior genders problems males. abuse/dependence larger family size, lower socioeconomic status, hyperactivity, attention problems, aggression. Parental abuse having younger parents Conclusions Familial primarily specific, suggesting separate pathways. The unique perspectives multiple informants facilitate identification.
