摘要: This study tests the hypothesis that prenatal exposure to 2,4-dichlorophenyl-p-nitrophenyl ether (nitrofen), an herbicide known induce pulmonary hypoplasia and other malformations in fetal rats, also may ureterohydronephrosis (UHN) oligohydramnios. Time-dated pregnant Wistar rats were given 100 mg of chemical on day 9 or 11 gestation, findings their fetuses compared with those suitable controls. Marked bilateral UHN was found majority exposed fetuses, but without evidence either mechanical obstruction dysplastic parenchymal lesions. These animals had various degrees lung hypoplasia. The amount fluid amniotic sacs increased rather than decreased it independent weight correlated some extent grade. Urinary tract dilatation polyhydramnios this model most likely are attributable polyuria caused by nitrofen-induced impairment renal concentrating capacity. relatively simple animal might facilitate research into aspects physiology nonobstructive, prenatally dilated urinary tracts.
