摘要: Cis-abscisic acid (ABA), when applied to maize (Zea mays L. cv. LG 11) roots, decreases the rates of cell growth and division in meristem. It also rate at which nuclei become labelled with [3H]-thymidine enter mitosis. Removing root cap accelerates entry into DNA synthetic phase mitotic cycle enhances proliferation quescent centre. ABA diminishes these effects, but does not suppress them. Thus, cannot wholely substitute for presence a cap. One primary effects is retard enlargement may turn affect division; natural endogenous act similarly. might this way assist maintaining quiescent centre intact be sole agent involved.
