摘要: This paper surveys theoretical and practical issues associated with a particular type of information retrieval problem, namely that where the need is pictorial. The contextualised by notion visually stimulated society, in which ease record creation transmission visual medium contrasted difficulty gaining effective subject access to world's stores such records. technological developments which, casting image electronic form, have contributed so significantly its availability are reviewed briefly, as prelude main thrust paper. Concentrating on still moving pictorial forms image, dwells related indexing material discusses four models corresponding permutations verbal modes for representation picture content need.
