Naked eye sensing of toxic metal ions in aqueous medium using thiophene-based ligands and its application in living cells

摘要: Thiophene-based diimine (R1) and monoimine (R2) were synthesized in a single step, their cation binding affinity was tested using colorimetric UV–vis spectral studies. R1 selectively shows turn-on response for Pb2+, Hg2+ ions turn-off with Sn2+ ions, R2 visual Cu2+ over other examined metal aqueous medium. forms 1:1 complex Hg2+, exhibits fluorescence quenching, whereas 2:1 enhancement. The structural electronic properties of the sensors complexes also investigated Density Functional Theory calculations. successfully demonstrated as fluorescent probe detecting living cells.
