摘要: Changes in extracellular matrix glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) of the intestinal mucosa have been associated with inflammatory bowel disease. The aim present study was to follow changes GAGs metabolism during progression from non-inflamed inflamed colon patients Crohn’s disease (CD), using direct biochemical analysis and specific immunohistochemistry against chondroitin/dermatan sulfate heparan sulfate. content eight active CD estimated by uronic acid per dry weight tissue analyzed agarose gel electrophoresis ion-exchange chromatography. Intestinal sections were stained antibodies dermatan sulfate/chondroitin 4-sulfate (DS/CS), (HS), ICAM-1 (CD54), confocal microscopy. There a reduction amount CD. In colon, HS, CS DS showed increased concentrations compared colon. diffuse distribution lamina propria basement membrane both We observed marked altered patterns increase synthesis may be compensatory mechanism for restoration integrity mucosa.
